Alright, im' running a 88120dvc aluminum and an alpine v12 mono 605. It's in a simple sealed q-logic box. I was wondering if i'm runnin it at 2 ohms wats the most you think my sub can handle. I know it has a 500rms spec but i'm not sure if i can run it that high. Also i figure im' loosing alot of sound and quality from my shitty box, but i looked around and i couldn't find any specs for my sub. I want to build my own box. I'm in to really loud base so what should my amp be set at as far as hz and fq. I got it tuned by some guys at bestbuy i know but it doesn't sound that great, it sounds shitty actually. Anyone help.

Thanks

get a better amp
Yea just toss out $ for a new amp, dont bother trying a new box or anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

PM Moe Lester, Jmac, etc. Ask them if they can get a plan for ya. Im sure they could, be like $10 or so. Well worth it, if you can assemble it well.

yeah i wont have a problems assembling it. Heres the specs

Sub: dvc 4 ohm. wired into 2 ohm

amp: mono subwoofer car amplifier

» 400 watts x 1 at 4 ohms (600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)

» Class D design

» internal, variable-speed cooling fan

» Bass Engine® features:

• low-pass digital filter, 30-200 Hz, with a selectable 12 or 24 dB/octave slope

• selectable subsonic filter (off, 15Hz, or 30 Hz with 24 dB/octave slope)

• Bass EQ (0-16 dB at 45 Hz)

» top-mounted digital control center with cover

» CEA-2006 compliant

» optional remote level control

» preamp inputs and outputs

» extra-large terminals

» fuse rating: 30A x 2

yeah i hurd if i switch and port my box it'll be very loud. But i also like it clear.

Whats a dmm, im new //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

dmm = digital multi meter.

Digital MultiMeters

Those things should be your best friend with anything 12v (or higher for that matter).

I wouldn't give the alum much more than 600rms to tell you the truth. Your best bet would be to get a box designed by one of the 120948190348901323890 designers we have on the forums. Moe_Lester / Jmac are probably some of the better ones (IMO) won't cost you more than $10-$15 for a plan. Tune it ~32Hz or so (to keep it musical).

i had the amp that puts out twice the power of that and only got 800w out of it wired at 1ohm, that was the 1005, i can only imagine how little power is coming out of the 605...
on the cea tag it says tested 669 RMS @ 2 ohms and is stamped with an approval? i ono wat the hell that means

i think i figured out what size box i need. I did some calculations for a sealed square box. I need 2 cu. ft. The dimensions i came out with were

External:

13" H x 18.5" W x 20" D

and internal:

11.5" H x 17" W x 18.5 D

this is using 3/4 mdf.

Does this seem righT?
