so i fired someone today......

As manager of a facility it is my job to know what my employees do on the clock. If they hurt someone because their attention span was altered by their on site drug use, I am liable. How you can't understand that is beyond me.
I give second chances on a lot of things, except drug or alcohol use on premise during work. It is absurd and proven many times that it isn't worth the second chance. The second time could be him injuring himself or another while high.

THAT COULD MEAN MY JOB NOT JUST HIS.

Are you that thick?
I know it has to be tempting for you and your co-workers, being what your job is and everything. lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

If they clean up their mess I don't mind if they smoke outside as long as it's not blowing in the house.
That's commendable. I think an owner or authority figure in a facility or job site should be able to hire or fire people for any reason they wish outside of discriminating against the big 3. If you don't smoke and don't like those that do, you shouldn't have too put up with it. Of course as an employer you have to learn to balance what you want from employees to keep turnover down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif IMO they are their to work not for the liberties of home unless the employer wishes to make these liberties available.

You can throw common sense right out the window when a workforce has been unionized.

My dad is a long time UAW man. Got his stickers proudly displayed in his back window. Me and him have had good arguments that turns into his panties bunching and yelling when I open my big mouth about unions today. They had their place and helped pave a way that was necessary, but never learned to stop taking. I also hate the "seniority" structure of them. It makes no sense. I'd rather give promotions and perks to the ones that work hard and deserve it, not just the ones who have been there the longest.

What a ****ing goon...I smoke but have never smoked before work, during work or at work!!! That shit just ain't proper...If you absolutely have to smoke that badly that you can't wait to get home and smoke, then at the very least, wait until lunch and go off property and smoke in your car!!!

How can he expect him to follow the rules at work if he can't even obey the law, people like him don't deserve to live.
i dont obey the law (smoke weed everyday) and i'm not only great at my job (building boeing airplanes) i feel i'm an asset to society.

ever driven 1 mph over the speed limit? you don't deserve to live, you ignorant fuck.

but yeah, sounds like the guy was a jackass and deserved to be fired. you have to be pretty stupid to smoke AT work.

Now this I have no problem with. If they want to bake at home after work, that's cool. They can even come in and tell me how baked they were last night. The minute it is done on company time, I have to do something about it.

I agree with everything you said, including the fact that they were once necessary. However, they just push shit way too far.

oh..then your not so bad. I was going to say every job site I go to don't care as long as you smoke outside.

If you are smoking at work, you're asking to be fired.

Weed is the most identifiable smell ever.

Then when you are zoning out and moving real slow and looking like an idiot and laughing all the time....you are becoming a danger to your coworkers, say one of your buddies got his fingers cut off or something or passed out....but you are too high to get help, you're in some deep shit now.

Its time for kids to grow up and realize there is a time to work and act like a grown up, and a time to get high
