so i fired someone today......

lol ya i actually left my laptop down here while i was up in main offices figured he woulda snagged it and just left. he really wasnt a good worker but for the job he was doing it would be better than me working 80hours a week. right now hes still here we are going up at 430 to have a sit down with him lol. i just dont understand why he couldnt wait till either i wasnt here or when he got home.

 
Smoking cigs isn't illegal nor does it affect your judgement or motor skills like pot. If it was his break time then having a cigarette outside isn't the same or near the same as reefer on the property. Now I have fired those skating into the bathroom for cigs when they should be on the floor.
Some places you can still smoke inside...my dad's job, for instance, still allows indoor smoking.

 
this part of the job is a wastewater plant for a food factory. i also do psm with ammonia systems and that takes most of my time. i mainly just do lab work and ordering supplies, chemicals, and tankers. and yes supervisors here fire people. now a little thing i should mention is my dad is director of operations and a member on the owners board so i cant really let someone go and have them runnign around saying bosses son is letting me smoke weed.

ya i am but just cause i am one of those guys i have to work twice as hard to get the same respect. either people ignore me or kiss my ***, majority of people see higher power as bad and shit on anyone connected. oh well there just jealous

If I were to run a business of course I wouldn't allow it. I do however believe in second chances. So I'd tell him to get his shit right and come back tomorrow. If he didn't correct the issues I'd give him his walking papers and tell him to GTFO.

Honestly, marijuana laws are becoming less strict in many areas... I wouldn't be surprised to see it decriminalized in the near future.

Also, 97gp, are you honestly going to try and tell me that you've never broken the law? So seeing as you can't follow the law either you clearly don't deserve to live. Drink bleach.

Speedbump3, how does it become your liability? You mean to try and say that if someone is smoking pot in say... a school its the school's liability? I fail to see your logic.

 
this is technically my first week as supervisor. ive been lead man and doing the same thing for almost 2months now but official as of this week. anyways we're short 4guys so that leaves me on first a grunt doing all of 3rd shift this week. well i got a guy to come in and ive been training him. hes already been late twice this week but i covered for him being the nice guy. so today its like 1pm im outside smoking a cig and see a box i didnt throw away. so i go to throw it away behind the building and theres the new guy standing in the back doorway. he turns around with a bag and pipe in hand. lol long story short he admitted he had weed but said he wasnt smoking. even though after i seen him i walked back out front and kinda eyed him from the corner and watched him continue to smoke for 5min. once he came back around i told him he was working hard at getting fired. and proceded go through the channels and get the paper work to fire him. the end
He probably needs to hit the pipe to deal with your *** on the daily. He's gonna fux with your car now.

see i figured being late 2days already was his first and second chance. he transferred from production and already has write ups and that would have got him fired also. the first day he was over an hour late. second day was on time. yesterday was 2min. on time today, those were his chances

also he kept smoking after i caught him. that buried him and he admitted to it and having it.
