Skar EVL 18 VS. SSA ICON

I was thinking the skar evl 18 because of the price fits my range and i don't have to wait 4 months to receive them

This is how the EVLs look in a sealed, and a manufacturer's 4.5 cube ported tuned to 31hz, a 6.5 cube tuned to 31 hz, a 10 cube tuned to 31hz

As you can see the 10 cube box is the smoothest response next to sealed.

If only I could understand that ?

Look at that white line!.. I got to learn this!

At this point I am stepping back... I don't use the same program as others... I use this... Port Length Calculator ... I know a 12 ft3 will fit... but if your looking for exact numbers let someone with better software help. At 12ft3... yes, it should be at seat height.
you cant trust web calculators because they automatically assume you've already taken out the space the port takes up.

If you havent already done so and build the box without accounting the displacement the port takes up, you are way less in airspace and are tuned way higher.

ideally you want it to look like the sealed one. The EVLs are not sound quality oriented subs by any means of the imagination from what the sub's electromechanical parameters tell us. The manufacturer's 4.5 cube recommendation is complete garbage as well.

Here's what a flat response SQ tuned box would look like.

Yes I do know THAT!..lol! But this is winisd right?.. I've had the most frustrating time trying to figure this software out... I'm sorry maybe it's because my mental acuity is less now since I've had a stroke.

Should I do 8 cf sealed box ?

I knew that the factory spec on THEIR box was whacked when CSCstang came up with some wild port area for my 12's. I was gonna shoot in the dark so to speak with the other program and I came up with 5 ft3 net with 71in2 tuned to 30hz but he came back with 81 in2 for the same tuning...LOL!

I'm just going to say right now that that winisd really works!

100% chance of you getting an already made icon from some guy cancelling his order.
A lot of people waited 2-4 months for FI's bullsh*t. My buddy barely got his evil 15s woofers after 4 months waiting and he's on team ssa. FI straight up p*ssed off a giant wave of people.

Defend it all you want but that build house is under major scrutiny for how slow they get the product to the customer's hands right now on major audio groups on FB.
He didn't get someone else's sub, he got the one he ordered. Yes, our build house fell very behind, but not on purpose, and we have done everything on our end to ease the delay or move customers to other brand options if need be. All new build tickets are on pause so the build house can catch up to the demand. That is so once new builds start back up again (meaning taking new orders again) the back up will be gone and the lead time will be way down because the back log will have been caught up. Ours is getting nearly all caught up.

If you can wait it out, July 4th, SSA will have a major sale so you can definitely afford the icon or maybe some Xcons. The sound would be much much better.

that is until july 4th sales hit and the backlog continues hehehe. Everyone thirsty for SSA subs.

That drastically changes.

Type in 350degrees in the box next to voice coil temp.

No shift cms down 20% up qes 15% shif vas up 10%

And QL should be 8 for a good sealed box

Yes I agree that a flat curve is ideal... but if your looking for max output at say... 25-32 hz isn't ported better/more efficient?
A flat curve is NEVER FLAT.

I highly recommend a +3 bump atound 35hz in a smaller truck with 10% more port area and a slightly larger box.

In a larger car or suv. A slighy smaller box with a higher tune 38 or so give you a peak from around 50 to 60 and the larger cabin aids the sligtly faster roll off of the higher tuning smaller box with its natural trasnfer function..

For spl its just the oppsite. Large box lower tune in larger cabins tune lower 33. Or so just enought port area for vent match..

For walls/trucks small box HUGE port tuned no lwerr than 37.
