Simple Amplifier Setting Question

Hello all,

I am new here, but I plan to stick around... finally got my amp out of protection mode after a faultly installation by a local audio-shop. I think I'll stick to what I know and the hobbiest heres knowledge.

Finally I was able to get everything going, but now I need to set everything and the guides I found are beyond on comprehension.

I have Audiobahn A1200N Head Unit, Audiobahn A2381T and two 12" Audiobahn subs. I forget the model number, but they are from about 2002, and are rated 1200W RMS each, true or not the amp isn't too powerful.

The amp outputs are,

Amplifier Type: 2-channel

RMS Power @ 4 Ohms: 200W x 2

THD at 4-Ohm RMS Power: 0.02%

Bridged RMS Power @ 4 Ohms: 560W x 1 @ 2 Ohms

Speaker Level Inputs: no

Preamp Outputs: yes

Built-In Crossovers: HP/LP

Bass Boost: 0-18 dB

Frequency Response: 10-40,000 Hz

Signal to Noise Ratio: > 100 dB

Basically, I need to know, how fair gain should be up approx, and bass boost yes or no and and approx of sub sonic freq. From there I should be able to adjust the lpf and hpf by the audio files and by ear. The above are the confusing parts to me. I will also turn everything off and flat on the head unit.

Thanks all, I look foward to being here

first off runn and runn fast you will get bashed for using audiobahn here.

2 that amp does not seem strong enought to power subs. but you need to find out what model subs they are. if you dont have a dmm to set the gain dont put it over 50% bass boost 0%

Thank you for the fast reply.

I know audiobahn is not popular on forums as I've lurked around in many in the past and never found any likers of them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif It does okay for me, and most of the time I don't test the subs and I just use the beat to even out the music.

I did not pay more than 115 for any of the stuff brand new, so for what I had at the time it was okay for me. After the subs/amp I bought the headunit for 75$ just hoping it would sound better if everything matched (which I have noticed for far, but not mind boggling differences). After seeing many budget setups I've come to realize that the very high line products such as JL are so well made they can sound good with a darn amp from the early 90's. Whenever I get new stuff I'll probaly consult the forum archives first, but for now I'm glad to have it back!

THanks again,

Ed
