Should 1000 watts be ok with a stock electrical system, I think alternator is somewhere around 70amps.

so many never go the aftermarket alternator route and push much more than that on paper, you most likely will not see anywhere near all that power- just take the precautions alot of people take- big 3, deep cycle if you crank it w/ cars not on...etc..

big 3 is HIGHLY recommended, i have a stock alt, just did the big 3, my lights still dim but not as violently like it did before, they recommend 4 awg min. i went ape crazy and went with 1/0 wire

yup, you should go same size wire as you do for power to the other ground points...

What is your stock alternators amp rating, you are running a huge amp.
