I have a soundstream 20farad hybrid cap that I never planned on using (have it from when I had a shop) I am about to start installing all my gear finally and was wondering if I should actually use it or not. I do plan on using extra batts and I know batts are better than having a cap but again I just have it laying around and it would look nice. If I do use it I would run an extra wire from the front and put it inline just for the highs and not for the bass. what do you all think?

You have it from when you had a shop huh. Wasn’t a car audio shop obviously or you would know what’s up. Car audio caps have very little storage capacity even a 20uf cap will do next to nothing except look cool and that’s ok if that’s what floats your boat.

There are people building cap banks out of used Maxwell supper caps and powering their whole systems for competition. They are getting over 10,000 amps for three second burps from the home made supper cap banks but a 20uf cap is just not worth the time it takes to hook up.

I figured thats what I would be told. I am not a fan of caps either just kinda hurts to have something laying around I know if I sell I wont get much for it. MayBE Ill install it in my wifes for car for shits and giggles. She can say look at the pretty lights lol
