Should I start over? Need advice

I have a problem on my hands... as it stands now I have two 12" Alpine Type R and a Recoil RED 1000.1 amp. I have not hooked anything up yet, as I've been saving slowly to buy all the pieces to a system. Well I just about have all the equipment needed- it's in my possession or currently in the mail, and I'm not sure I still want to use this sub/amp combo. The set-up I really want is either a pair of DD2512 or one 2515... or something similar (not really so hot on the R's anymore...), and possibly a different amp. Does anyone have any experience or input on the amp? I think I heard the company got bought out by Rockford Fosgate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I was thinking about getting a more "classy/showy" amp to show off, but I'm not sure.

So, should I just go with what I got? Or should I sell off my equipment and get something more to my liking? I plan on either building or having a custom box built for whatever subs I get. It's going in a Chevy Trailblazer.

R's are capable of being fairly loud. I dont know what type of sq you desire, but R's are marginal in this department. Two 2512s would be louder than the R's, but it depends on how much bass you desire.

To your amp, I have heard that Recoil was bought out by RF, but thats about all I have heard. I see Recoil amps on Ebay for pretty cheap...But I know nothing of build quality. Depending on your budget, you could consider an AP1500 that will give you a full 1500rms or an MBQ dsc1500 if you want to spend a little more

Supposedly these amps do rated, and if they do, 1000rms on 2 Type Rs is more than adequate for a person who is new to car audio. You will probley think its pretty loud actually

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'll be more than content with 1000 watts... The thing about the subs is I want to have a box built to specs for the woofers. So I don't know whether to stick with what I have or get the equipment I really want

If you haven't even installed them yet, why are you not hot on the R's anymore? Is this one of those 'I bought them because of what someone told me, and I sold them because of what someone else told me' kind of situations?

Well like I said, I've been slowly saving and buying equipment progressively. I bought the R's like 6 months ago and have since changed my mind about the setup I'd like to have. I've heard good stuff about the R's, but TONS of people have them and I want something more non-mainstream.

yea I say stick with your type r's if you don't like them then sell them and get whatever you want...
