makes me sad, i hate winter but im in a place that gets way to bloody cold for way to long. And when people complain about fall weather for us being as cold as they may ever see....at 20F its still sweater weather

i had a co-worker from ND that would were shorts in the middle of winter. i'd be freezing my *** of, and he would be comfterable. (sp?) i would die up there if i had to put up with those winters. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Do any of you guys know how ****ing cold that is?

Of course damage can happen and its a very good question. To the op you can leave it in but be careful. Make sure your car is nice and sealed. Your equipment will be frost bitten so be aware of that, wipe it down with a towel if you have to. And don't just hop in your car and start thumbing your frozen *** woofers. Start slow let them move and warm up...

There is always one! ^^^^

I have played my system in well below 0 degree weather for days at a time and never had any problems with any of my systems since I was 16 years old. I am now 32 and lived in Ohio most of my life.

Also I don't ever just jump in and crank my shit! I let it sit for a minute low volume before I get on it, cold or hot.

When I had my Pioneer head unit the display would gradually light up when I turned it on instead of instantly. That was during the winter time in -10 to 20 degree weather (I live near Buffalo). That was really the only difference I had between winter and summer in the systems I had.

The JVC head unit I have in my car now gets so warm it could probably heat up my **** car when winter comes....eghh JVC...

what exactly should we wipe down with a towel? the metal case on our amp? or are you talking about the internals?...the subs and mids and tweeters? the cones or the motors... how come my factory deck works just fine in -50 so does all the other factory amped stereos...how come my aftermarket one will fry?

and how cold what is? -50 yes i most deff do.

if you regularly leave your doors and trunk open in snowstorms, then yes, take your stuff out

Like others I've never had a problem with my stuff in the winter although 1. they're in my trunk and 2. I park my car in the garage

Yeah i just had Issues With HU lighting up when it felt like it lmao. But I have Never had a problem B4, but to be honest I took everything out this year LMAO now i am sad i did. But here in MI it does go well Below 0 on a regular basis in the winter, and i have gone out touched my amp's, and sometimes subs and there usually is a bit of Condensation or Frost so wipe yor stuff down IMO

The only real problem your system could face in very cold weather is the soft parts on your speakers' suspension will tend to stiffen, and perhaps become brittle, as they get very cold. For this reason, as suggested above, give your speakers a minute or two to warm up by playing at moderate volumes before you actually crank it.

just an FYI for all you guys... next time its like 20deg. or lower, take a look at one of your amps before you turn on your car... it will most likely be covered in frost, along with your battery posts,and yes, possibly the motor on your sub...and if that frost is thick enough, it can put some friction on the motor once you start to play it..... i just noticed this last year... my amp was covered in frost/ all wet

water= baddddddddddddddddd
