Should I have to upgrade?

Hey guys. I had a quick question on upgrading my electrical in my '04 Grand Prix.

Looking around online, I think my GT2's alternator is putting out about 160A. Now, once I throw my system into it, my amp's only gonna be about a 1000w amp. Since I'm running the Big 3 under the hood, I wouldn't think that would be a problem. But I may want to amplify my mids and highs, depending on how they sound once I get my sub put in. I was just wondering with multiple amps in the car, do you guys think I'll ever have to upgrade to a HO Alt? Or do you guys think 160As will be enough?

160A is about 100% bigger than a lot of factory alternators, on which generally 1,200-1,500 watts RMS power is the max. It's not really that simple, but for your proposed 1,000W amp plus a 4-channel amp that alternator is more than adequate.

just add a good battery and you should be solid.

I run a 250rms amp on my front stage, and a 1700rms (rated at 1ohm) amp at .5ohms stock batt, stock alt. You should be good.
