Should I go back to the JL? Advice please

Hey guys I'm looking for some quick advice. I have a 99 2 door Tahoe that I bought new back in 99. It's only got 105 K on the odometer so I'm going to keep her around for a while. When I bought it I took it right over to a place by my old place of work that's long gone and had a system put in it. At the time there was an aftermarket center console available that came with a JL10 in it so I went with that because I didn't want to give up what little space I had in the two door. I put some separates in the doors and and some better 3 x 10's (I think) up in the back roof locations, all being run by an Alpine MRV-F340. For what it was it sounded decent and was a huge improvement over the stock garbage. I was pleased with it. One day the Pioneer took a crap and I just threw the stock head unit back in and was just running the doors. Finally got around to putting a new head unit in it but by then I realized the JL10 rotted out. Being on the cheap I posted up on Facebook and a buddy of mine gave me a 10 that he had laying around. I think it was an orien??? I'm not even sure. Anyhow it just didn't have the punch and eventually it did the same thing and it's rotted out now. My bass blows. Started poking around tonight on eBay and Amazon. Wondering if you guys suggest just going back to the JL10? If so which one? I don't want to put a lot of money in this thing but I'm willing to spend a few bucks. I'm long past my days of ear bleeding loud but every now and then I do like to crank It up. I listen to mostly classic rock. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

What's your budget?

My suggestion? A high powered ported single 8 that won't take up a lot of space in the cargo area. And some nice separates up front. 5 ch amp to run everything.

thanks, but my budget is just to buy another 10 inch and slap it in the aftermarket center counsel. I'm not redoing the whole system. the truck is too old and I drive 5 miles to work.... I'm in a cargo van most of the day

also remember in the two doors of that year a full size spare was mounted in the back behind the back seat. With the backseat up you have like a 3-foot by 3-foot cargo space that's it. It's a cracker box back there.

Honestly I couldn't remember. Thankfully I'm a paper work horder. The box was made by JL. It was a series of boxes they made for all different Vehicles back in the late nineties called stealthbox and it appears it is non ported.

Is that most likely what was in this originally based on the photo you see in the link I posted above? I don't need to get crazy I just need it to have a little bit of punch again. By the way do you know anything about the amp? What kind of power was I most likely putting to it using that amp to run everything? Any clue?

I think I remember why I liked it for what it was. You really can't find a bad review on this little 10 inch

No such thing as too old bud. Mine is 2 years younger and still drives fine. Had a '92 s10 blazer that ran ok too.

Just buy another JL sub and be done with it. Sounds like that's all you wanna do.

Not sure I understand your post? Unimpressed with the JL 10? Yeah I guess if you're a guy putting competition stereo systems together but I'm just someone who wants to have a little bass driving back and forth to work. I'm 50 years old... my days of cranking music to disturbing levels are long gone... BUT if the Necromancer just happens to pop up on the iPod the knobs going way up
