should i get this alty?

2k watts, ok that covers the subs, how bout the front stage? gonna be just powerd off the hu, thats a waste then if all you'll hear is bass with no front stage until the subs are off....

as of that point though, deff need a second battery, and at least a 200 amp alt, can't really put a huge arse alt on such a tiny engine though, biggest i'd go in that car is maybe 300....MAYBE

That's some bs, right now I don't even have any of my "aftermarket" speakers hooked up to a separate amp. I'm running A LOT of power and A LOT of cone area and when I'm blasting my bass full tilt, you can still hear the lyrics and instrumentals. I will be adding/changing my frontstage, but look what I run....

the wear and tear on the engine.......smaller v6's have a hard enough time lugging around themselves, he'll notice the drag that the larger alternator puts on it when he goes to "punch" the throttle as compared to the stock.

as for the stock speakers being heard over the bass.......your running what kinda subs in what kinda car?

 
ive done some more planning and realisitically, im going to be using at most 1200RMS, divvied up as 800rms to the subs and 400rms to the internal speakers. This is assuming I get a new amp. Currently I have a 600rms(2 ohm) sub amp and a 4x100rms Component amp, but I want some room to grow. Other than the at most 1500rms I may or may not actually use, I have the following to consider

1200RMS Amps

4 Farad Cap

Headunit

Car stuff (ac, defroster, lights, windows)

AC convertor (for laptop)

underbody lights (4 lights)

I dont want an alternator so big it messes with my engine, just something bigger than what I have and able to provide for my setup.

 
lol... thats great. I was lookin at different alt threads, and if a v6 is gonna have a hard time with a big alty, then how the hell is my 2.4 I-4 gonna handle an alty. I need one and thats bottom line. When the bass drops real hard at idle and when im cruisin slow in like 1st or 2nd gear, i can feel it, and when it idles and the ssytem has been running for a while and draining my battery to its last few electrons, it dips about 100 rpms when a reaaaaalllly loud bass note hits. Though its only on higher bass notes, above about 80hz. Lower notes like 20-60hz it has no problems with. Why is that?

that cap does you absolutely no good dude, seriously. your better off buying a second battery for what that cap does to your system.

as for needing a larger alt, with a system like that, the biggest you'd need is a 180 amp alt, speacially if you take my advice and get a second battery rather than using that useless cap, it'd take over 1k 1 farad caps to equal a decent bottom line automotive battery. but with only 1500 watts rms, a 180 is all you'd need even if you didn't do a second battery, but that cap is doing more harm then good.
