Should I get a Rott?

i would like either a rottweiller or a dobermann but i don't have the time right now to spend with them. maybe till after high school and if i stay in town for college i'll get one.

but you answer your question, you should if you can do all the things you say you'll do. i don't see any harm in it. if you do everything, it sounds like your rott will grow up to be one of the good ones //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

rotts are not as bad or as hard to teach as people think.they were used in europe to pull little carts for small kids.

they are awsome dogs. very protective especially of children.

as long as you spend time with her and play with her and of course have kids around she will be like another kid herself.

my 1st dog was a rott. she was a giant. 174lbs. one of the best breeds of dogs as long as you dont train them or treat them like junk yard dogs.

I call bs on 174 lbs sorry but 174lbs is impossible its like hitting 180db on termlab with 1 12" Infinty Reference especially "Not being fat". I breed French mastiffs and the male my female is breeding to is 166lbs and that is huge so 174lbs for rott let alone a female its not possible.

This is the male: Your female was bigger than that.

nice dog, but to think that a rott can't be that big is a little off base, hell your dog could probably walk under mine, not to say it'd not a beautiful dog and very powerful looking at that, but I have seen rotts that are taller and just as thick.

ive never cared for training. ive always looked at it like thisif i cant train the dog and keep it safe and under control i shouldnt have that dog.

the only thing training can do is when you have the papers after the graduate some insurance compaines will give you a break on your homeowners. its called Canine Good Citizen
That's very poor reasoning in my humble opinion.

get a boxer.... good family dog and will still scare the **** out people. easy to train and smart as hell

I still love a rott, but the boxer is a close 2nd.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have a boxer and I agree they are great dogs, I don't know about smart though:)

But there is no doubt they have great personalities for someone who has time to spend with them. They love companionship and are great with kids.

2 weeks ago I got a 4 month old pup, her name is Annie and she is a mut, half Rottweiler and half Beagle. Well I'm thinking of getting a companion for her, and I can get a 7 week old pure bred Rottweiler from Champion bloodline for around $400.
Anybody experienced in raising Rotts? I know they take a lot of work and need to be heavily socialized, which I plan on doing over the summer. Just looking for some advice or concerns about the breed.
One of the best dogs you'll ever own, I've had 4 of them and they're very loyal and dependable dogs.
