Should I get a Rott?

I just got my rotti mix not too long ago. He's an amazing dog. One of the most mellow i've ever had. Somewhat stubborn but likes people and LOVES children. I almost killed him yesterday when he peed in my house.

I don't really want a dog to scare people. I want one that will be friendly to all people and one that can be a companion to anyone.

I am still looking for the pet that can pretty much take care of itself, with minimal attention or intervention from me.

Get a cat. They can fend for themselves and don't really need anything, maybe some water.

The turtle idea sounds promising. Perhaps a hermit crab or something.

Hermit crabs seem to die easily, at least some that I had. If you keep the cat outside and/or get a scratching post that would prob take care of that problem, but I see what you're saying. What about a snake? Or iguana

I don't like snakes...and lizards seem like a lot of trouble.

I think a turtle would be pretty maintance free.

Yeah my friend has a turtle and he just drops some food in every now and then, that's the only maintenance required. And I would imagine you would have to clean out its cage/aquarium every now and then.

Anyway, I just talked to the guy and it's a go, he is probably going to take it over to my dads within the next few days, but Im not going home (from campus) til next weekend, but i'll post pics of 'em when I get back. Thanks for the encouragement!!!

Last Christmas I got my girlfriends little sister (age 7) a pet rock. It looked like a frog, at least the shape. I painted it red with a white stripe on top and named it Willy the White Striped Toad. She seemed to like it, so I say go for it.

im about to get either a St. Bernard or a Rott. Leaning more towards the rott just because I dont think I have enough space for a St. bernard
