Should I buy these?

Hey guys.

I am in the market for some new subs and I ran across a deal that seems pretty good. I was seeking out a HU for a friend and stumbled across 3-W7's in a box. I am currently running a pair of cheaper OZ 12's. I lean more towards SQ, but loud is good as long as SQ isn't terribly compromised. I can pick the JL's up for $550. Not real sure I want to spend quite that much but it seems like a deal I should seriously consider.

My sub amp is an RD 2200.1. Would these items work well together?

Sorry for all the ??? but I have been out of the loop for quite a while.

What would you do in this situation?

Three W7's for $550? You didnt mention size which greatly affects value, but that's a steal for 3 of any size W7's. Make very sure they still work, almost too good to be true for that price.

If the woofers are in good working condition, and a box nonetheless, I'd pick it up. I'm going to assume it's three 10's at that price, I dont know why haha

Nonetheless it should work fine.

Also, that's an earlier RD Amplifier, one of the amps they didn't have near as much luck with it. I think it does around 1700 RMS at 1ohm, If I'm not mistaken.

Find out what VC Configuration those woofers are. I'm sure it will work just fine.

The subs in question are 12's. I felt like it was a deal that I should at least consider. I suppose I should go investigate further at lunchtime.

Find out the voice coil configuration, as well as if all the subs work

If you can pick up three 12w7's in that box, whether we like them or not, it's worth it.

definitely is a steal if you can get it for 550. Unless they are not working or whatever.

I would resell them to get some profit and buy myself something bigger and better lol

Glad to chime in. To put things into perspective, one used W7 12 is usually worth $300-400. He probably paid around $700-1000 each for them new. So yes, $550 for three is a steal.

Thanks again for the responses guys.

I will go check them out again at lunch to determine VC configuration and hook them up to verify that there are no issues.

I guess if I don't like them for some reason, I will at least have something worth trading/selling in order to get what I want. I guess it's a win/win situation.

I'll report back later on my findings/decision.

Do a continuity test on all the coils. Check the soft parts carefully. Be overly cautious. For that price, this is a buyer-beware situation.

Buy them.

eBay them individually.

Purchase better subs. And probably a halfway decent hooker with the leftover.

Oh well.... I will just have to find something else now.

So, now that I showed 15 minutes late for the JLs's, anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be looking for?

I am contemplating an IB setup again to regain a little trunk space (previously had 4 eD 700's) so it wouldn't be any extra work other than cutting the rear deck to accomodate 10's or 12's. Considering a Flatline- any better options? I can still use a 2-12 box if not going IB, but need to keep it around 1-1.25cf sealed max, per sub.
