So I just bought a Fi BTL 18" full loaded and am looking into amps. I have a 6th gen civic with stock alternator. I plan on doing big 3, and buying a yellowtop and possibly a 2nd battery. Im not looking to upgrade my alt. Im guessing a yellowtop alone probably wont be enough for 3000, so with a 2nd battery or using my stock battery with the yellowtop should I be ok? I really don't know what kind of amperage my stock alternator does. Thanks for any help.

(No trolling please I know im noob:cool:)

umm, some ppl will say u can do it with a stock alt, as long as u give the small alt time to charge them in between music sessions...buuut i really dont believe it myself..its a simple rule, to me at least....ur alt charges ur batt's...adding more batteries with nothing to charge them is just pointless to me.

1) no, you cannot adequately run 3krms on a stock alternator. ideally, you are going to want a high output alternator and around 3000amps worth of battery power.

2) for alternators, ide reccomend mechman, DC power, or ohio gen

x2 i have a mechman in my crown vic, love it

I ran 3600w on a stock sierra alt and it rarely dropped below 13.. yes it can be done... Batteries dont halp.... they are just storage... Your alt still has to make all of that up. that is where your problem is.. probably need around a 200A alt

which amps where these?

Well most of the places dont have a model for my car listed on their website so I have to give em all a call:eyebrow: O well its worth the time as now I know i'll obviously need it
I give you credit. You asked a question....received answers and absorbed them. And are now taking the proper steps. Most guys would say that "so and so" said you can run it with a cap so you just picked up a 30 farad and you'll be fine haha
