shallow mount subwoofer + spl

hello,

im looking to get two 12(13.5) shallow mount subwoofers. i want as much power and spl as possible. i want my bass to be heard!!! im not to worried about sq. ive been looking at the tw5 and the rockfordfosgate p3 shallow mounts. any other suggestions are appriatted.

From all I've heard the Alpine Type R thin mount is going to be your best bet. The TW5 doesn't have a lot of cone area for as big as it is and none of them handle power like the Alpine.

ive heard a tw5 in a mustang and it sounded really nice for it to be a shallow mount. it got decently loud.

the sundowns look awesome but i dont think that i can fit them in... im 6'3" and 5.25 depth makes for a big box. i watched the vids and all of them had BIG boxes.

Like I said earlier, the Alpines are probably going to be your best bet. The problem with shallow subs and SPL is that most all of them lack the motor strength to get very loud in a ported enclosure and the excursion to get loud for a sealed enclosure.

The JL TW5 costs $100 more than the Alpine but it has good reviews and a HUGE 5" or 6" coil. Personally I would get the Alpine from a price vs. performance point of view.

But like said above loud/SPL and shallowmount subs do not mix well. The Alpine or the TW5 will have problems taking more than say, 500 watts a piece for hours on end.
