Did a search on several forums and didnt find much. Tell me if this looks correct.

TD=time delay

A=distance in feet from ear

1132ft/sec=speed of sound

1000=ms

TD=(A/1132)*1000

Left=2.2ft

1.94ms=(2.2/1132)1000

Right=4.6ft

4.06ms=(4.6/1132)1000

4.06-1.94=2.12 TD

Does this look correct? I found this formula on ECA, I am having problems finding other formulas on the topic.

there used to be a forumula in my eclipse manual but i don't have it anymore. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif try seeing if you can get a pdf copy of the eclipse manual.

it was in my 8443 manual so if you have like an 8454 or 8053 it should be in there.

Thats why you get the Pioneer Premier 960. Has a microphone so it does itself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

can i use this formula to set the time alignment functions on my alpine 7995? do even i need to when running only front stage? and if i do, will it ruin imaging and staging sitting in the passenger seat?

Need isnt the right word. Noone needs time alignment. It will make a difference in your front stage unless you sit in the middle of your car when driving. For your passenger, it will sound different. In my car, the music sounds like it is coming from my instrument cluster(or somewhere there about, I don't spend too much time in MY passenger seat.) when I sit in the passenger seat.

time alignment=waste of time
How's that?

time alignment=waste of time

YEA RIGHT LMFAO,

It's a night and day difference on my Eclipse CD5444

With it set correctly it sounds as it should if I was in the middle of my truck with perfect imaging. It's one of those thigns that once you try it you won't go back. I just have the pre-settings on my HU though no way to manualy dial them in. Still works great!

Great thing is about using the pre-sets is I can switch from Front left to Front when a passenger gets in, and all the other T-alight settings stay the same (tweeter location speaker location etc)

Word

Alignment delay is [almost] mandatory for a critical listener with a vehicle installation.
