Setting the Gain?

You unhook the sub and hook straight to the amps speaker output set it to the correct ac voltage using a good test tone with all x-overs off and the eq set flat and then hook the sub back up.

 
You measure voltage out of the amp, not current.

nother stupid question, if I may: I read that the other channels may be disconnected ( channels not being tested ). Is this not harmful to the equipment to opperate without a load?
