Setting subwoofer settings on Alpine 9884

What should the HPF to on my HU? Also, should I put it on the "1" or "2" subwoofer setting? It seems louder on 2, no idea what the HPF does. System is in my sig.

HPF = High pass filter, I have mine @ 80hz

1: Subwoofer level changes according to the main volume setting.

2: Subwoofer level change is different from the main volume setting. For example, even at low voume settings, the subwoofer is still audible.

Yeah I get the 1 and 2 subwoofer change. The subs still hit hard on low volume. Dont understand the HPF

On my 9886 (had a 9884 and used the same settings), I set the HPF to 80 and the Sub System setting to 2.

Set it to your preference. It goes from 0-15 and I have mine at max.

Actually on these things the max, whether its 10 or 15, is zero, as in sub playing at full UBOOSTED volume, and 0 is negative 15, as in the sub is attenuated. Really gains and other tuning should be done with the sub at 15 then you only kick it down a notch or two if you feel you have to in order to get it to blend properly. Shouldn't be necessary if you have front drivers capable of half way decent midbass and your filters are set right.

Alright, I feel alot better now lol. Just got the hu a few weeks ago, and didn't really think setting it to max was right. Thanks guys
