Setting Gains on MY STOCK system.

yes i know there are a shitload of gain setting threads but i'm not sure which one to follow for my setup.

I have:

0db tone CD

DMM

High to Low installed with my Stock stereo system

Sub: Fi 15 BL

Enclosure: 3.7ft^3 @ 32hz (ported)

Amp: Saz-1500

Other: 1/0 gauge - Stock Battery

Right now my gains are at 3/4 and my bass knob is set at HALF. What specific instructions should i follow to give my sub about 1200w RMS

figure out your ac voltage, start the car and turn the 0db tone on, bass boost to 0 then turn the gain till you get your target voltage.....leave boost at 0 when done

Not an expert but yeah.

Jl tells u to put everything to 0 (eqs, bass).

I know lot of ppl set it to their preferred level and only then set the gains with DMM.

Coz after u set everything to 0 and go set the gains you shudn really mess with your HU. U can but then ull have to set the gains again.

I do it with the sub attached....all the same steps except don't remove the wiring to the sub....just probe the connections at the amp and turn the gain up till you get your number.

yes, you need to turn up the hu or you will not get to the target voltage

sorry, i didnt see that when i scanned ur post. just making sure lol. i dont know about setting gains for a certain rms i usually just make sure it sounds good and isnt too much that my sub cant handle. but i use type-r's and they are rated at 500 rms and can take 1000 a peice so yeah i wouldnt know. best of luck

Square root of power x resistance

So square root of 1200wrms x 1ohm or whatever it may be depending on your target power and how you have the woofer/s wired.
