Setting gain w/ alpine deck

i keep reading conflicting answers on what the volume knob should be at to set gains. Some says 23,25, 28 or 30. Sorry if it's an anoying topic...just trying to get the most of my amps. (alpine 9827)

if i remember from the sticky, its whatever volume YOU listen to the loudest at. so if your highest listening volume on your alpine deck is 28 then by all means adjust your gain from that set volume.

i have a premier deck and it maxes up to 61. i adjusted my gain at the 51 level because any more over, my speakers distort and cant hear the lyrics anymore (their not amped so go figure:crap: ). so i set the gain while my deck volume was set at 51.

so setting your gains with 3/4 volume is not really recommended then ehh? im guessing the max you listen to just use that to set the gains? correct? thanks.

It says to use 75% of max volume. I don't agree with this at all because, with some head units, you can crank it up to full without distortion and with others, it may only be 60% ... To set your gains, use the MAX settings you'd NORMALLY use ... If the loudest you listen to your music at on a regular basis is 22/35 with bass @ +3 and treble @ 0 with MX on, by all means use those settings.

i got my amp gain set to my alpine where the max volume with no distortion is 22, my friend has his at 28-30, i dunno which is better
