setting gain on kicker zx1500

test he coils resistance on the sub to see if it is burned up...

allow the amp to cool and see if it will turn back on...could be thermal shut down

and I was wanting to know what the dmm said at the amp where the vc's plug in

its sitting at 2.3 its a dual 2ohm sub

the amp tunred on and didnt shut off unless the sub was connected and when connected it played a very low volume even with Hu vol up and when i raised teh gains it shut off and went into protect

hooked the amp back up and it powered came on fine and no protect mode then all of a sudden it started smoking so i turned it off real qucik and turned it back on and it powered up and i put a dmm on the outputs and it showed getting full power

i dont understand this amp its weird i think something is wrong with it idk the mofset i guess thts why it is the big round circle thing with all the wires is what started smoking the one right by the power ground and remote wire inputs

i am considering sending this amp in to be checked and let them see whats wrong with it

i am gonna put a sub on it tommorow and see what it does

but i am scared of keeping this amp since it started smoking

and you probably blew your amp. 9 times out of 10, Smoke = bad.

Hard to say what it could be I know people that have used them for SPL and was wired at .4.

By any chance do you have a alpine head unit?

My friend just had the same problem with his amp and turned out to be the headunit sending a bad output signal to the amp messing the amp up.

i have a jvc but its not the first amp i had a ma audio and it worked fine i dont understand what happened its weird now when i set the gains it will only go so far and then start decreasing on the dmm on volts after a certain point the volts will start to go down why is that

then when i hook a sub up to it it will play until i turn the gain up to a certain point then it turns on and off

like for a 50hz tone to set at 1500rms at 2ohms should be 54.77 well it wouldnt even go over 60volts after like 56 it started going down the more i turned the gain

so should i contact the seller

for some reason it sounds like you got one that starts clipping after 60vac

contact the seller, sounds like a bad amp. I've had my zx1500.1 for well over a year and even had it running at 1 ohm. Friend also has a zx1500.1 at 1 ohm with a 140 amp alt and a cheap battery up front with 0 problems. As far as i'm concerned its the best 1500 at 2 ohm amp out there, and it puts out more at 1 ohms too.

yea because now since it started smoking it wont even go over 40volts it starts shutting off and on when playing

i dont understand what made it smoke in the begging i had everything wired up and fused correctly and set the gains with a dmm and test the ohms to make sure i had the right ohm load

no fuses blew or anything normal happend just the amp started smoking and now it wont go past 40 volts just starts decreasing on the dmm

this really pizzes me off now i have to wait another 2-3 weeks to get instal finished man i am bout to not buy kicker anymore

my l7 was wired wrong had coil 1 + coil 1- coil 1+ coil 2 -

and yea it was completely made wrong wouldnt even get a 2ohm load would come up with some waky ohm load
