Setting Gain Controls

Ok. Here's my big I'm confused post. I'm trying to set the gains on my amp properly so I don't fry my system but I'm not sure how to go about it given the current setup:

I bought a cheap receiver (Kenwood KDC-205) because they get stolen a lot where I am, but it only had one 2.5v preamp output.

I was told by some of local pro shops that running speaker level inputs would create more distortion.

My amp has three sets of rca inputs (front, rear, and sub).

I have my one rca input output from the receiver three ways into three rca inputs on the amp.

I was told that this might lower the given voltage level and that I might have to get a in line gain control amplifier like a PAC Turbo 1.

There are three gain controls on my amplifier (front, rear, and sub) with settings of .25 to 2.5v.

My stereo has a maximum volume level of 35.

If any more information is needed let me know, but I think this is enough,

Thanks, thanks, thanks a million in advance if someone has the waxing elegance and expertise to take on this question,

My system is kind frankensteined, so try not to wet yourself:

Kenwood KDC-205 Receiver

Kenwood 6889ie (Fronts) With Audiobahn AT69 Tweeters (Paralleled - Fronts)

Kewood 6969ie (Rears)

Clarion APX600.5 600 Watt 5-Channel Amp (45x4 + 120x1 @4) (75x4 + 190x1 @2)

Kicker 03C84 Free-Air 8" In Rear Deck (Sub Slot)

what problem are you having? is it just that you don't know how? if so, that link recommended above should show you how. also check the sticky in the amp section.

So, you used y-splitters to send one RCA output from the headunit to all 3 inputs on the amp?? If so, then the voltage drop will be negligable (a few tens of a volt at most).......not that it really matters, with the gain setting tutorial you set the gains by the output of the amp, not the voltage input. Just set the gains w/ a DMM
