Setting Amplifier gains with an external crossover?

I just hooked up my Amps to my Memphis External 3-way crossover, but having trouble adjusting the gains on the Kicker kx650.4 I have.

Am I suppose to set all the gains for the kicker down and adjust the gains on my HU? and crossover points on my memphis crossover?

I have a Pioneer DEH-7800MP

Help would be appreciated! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

General rule of thumb is that you want the "gain" in your system as early in the signal chain as possible.

Set headunit to it's highest volume prior to clipping.

Then set the output for the xover to the highest it'll go without clipping.

Then adjust the gain for the amplifier to just below clipping.
