Setting amp with DMM

Set my mp today with a DMM and everything worked good. So i put some a rap song in with heavy bass (one of the young jeezy songs) and the voltage reading at the amp was higher than what i set it to with a 50hrz test tone, is that normal? was set to 41.8v and with the young jeezy song it was reachin like 60-70v.

music is dynamic and the song may have been recorded at a +gain setting. probly jumped all over (dmm reading)

also make sure your tone isnt at -3

Just dont want to blow my subs. They dont sounds distorted or anything but just wasnt to sure.

What meter did you use ?

And FYI even a good one is not accurate > 1:3 crest factor

if you want to push your system 60hz -3........If you want to be safer 60hz 0db

Or what ever frequency you prefer. If you prefer to use 50hz then thats fine.

you can always set it at a reactive load. That is, set it while your sube are playing a 0db tone while your subs are active. Setting with no load will usually give you a lower reading, and as soon as your subs are atached, the voltage will increase.
