Setting amp gain using DMM

Hi, I have a question about test tones for setting amps. After calculating how many volts I need for my sub amp I play a test tone but on different frequencies I get different voltages. I tried 40, 50 and 60 and they all differ even though Im completely sure all were 0 dB. So which one should I use? Thanks.

They will be different because you're using different test tones. Use just the 50Hz test tone and you'll be fine Ave make sure that all settings are at 0 and bass boost is off and 3/4 volume on the headunit and not clipping.
