Semi-complicated build; couple of questions.

Alright boys, here's my box that I'm currently working on:

It's going in my 2006 Silverado Crew Cab; those angled pieces on the back wall will be fiberglassed; with everything else being wood. I've got several questions just to make sure I'm on the right track.

First off, the enclosure is 1.5 ft^3 @ 30 Hz for 3 RE RE 8" subs. Is this tuning too low for the subwoofers, or would they be better suited in the 33-35Hz range?

Secondly, do I have adequate port area in 22 in^2?

Does this port look good in terms of placement in the box? The port is firing towards the passenger side.

Which side of the box would the three subs work best? I presume the passenger (left) side so they can "load", for lack of a better term.

Any other criticism? I'll have a build thread up soon.

ya 1.5 sounds good and maybe bump it up to 32-33 hz and the port looks good as well make sure u have plenty of room in front of the port as not to clog up the airflow out the port ... id recomend trying to do it all out of wood... and i would line the subs up above the port if u can

i would put the port on the front w/ the subs, in the middle. and the subs in the middle. 1) i'm a big fan of port and subs on the same face (w/ the exception of a crx box.) 2) i'm a big symetrical freak, everything has to be even.

and x2 on the 35hz, i had some re's and they like it better there. and if you can make it all out of wood, like the pic, then i would, it'd be easier, faster, and you really wouldn't be gaining much by glassing.

The port would be firing directly into the back of the seat, thus screwing up the tuning. How would you have the port and subs both in the middle

I may do a sort of interchangeable ports :)

Are you shitting me? Port facing forward in a truck? Looks over performance? My god //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif. Id port driverside(or is it passenger with trucks?) at 35hz. Also I would place those subs over the port wall facing the front of the truck.
i just did a build in a truck w/ the ports forward, sounded pretty good. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

besides, i doubt hes going for spl w/ 3 re 8's. if he was i'd say subs and port up, subs on pass side port on driver.

i don't know how much room your gonna have between the seat and the box, but if you keep the port low, it'll fire under the seat...

i don't know if you can tell what i did, but thats how i'd do it...

^^hooked me up with a great box design. construction is next week. will report back on how the design actually sounds after completion

great guy to deal with too.

the plans looks good, but 30 is WAY to low. 35 would be about as low as i would go with the RE 8s. and i would leave the port ware it is, long as there is noting directly infront of it, youll be fine. and put the subs above the port equaly spaced in a row

So, it looks like I'm gonna keep the current design, put all three subs on the same side as the exit of the port, tune the port to 35 Hz, and I may make th port area slightly bigger
