Selling the type Rs for RLPs... will i be happy?

Ultimatly it is YOU that is going to have to make the decision. We can sit here all day long and bicker back and forth as to which is better. You must decide to either buy them or not. Do what you want...hell, if you have the room...dump the 2 12" idea and go for 1 mag 15" sealed. Output would be close, SQ goes to the mag, and low end extention...mag all the way. See, there are multiple choices here...
Make up your mind, write us up a review, and be done with it.

One 15 sealed will *not* compare to 2 12's in a decent ported box.

I think there is a definate place for Type R speakers.... I have one, Im not embarrased to say I own one. I keep it downstairs with the rest of my blown substandard subwoofers, right next to the Kicker L7's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
Must be why my type S's were louder a class lower than you, even when I smoked the fuse early... hmmm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Sounds like you are mistaking output with low end extention...
I don't consider it extension when its 15db down at 40hz... sure its "there"... but its no longer loud.

The RL-P peaked way high sealed, something like 80hz... perhaps with some heavy EQ it woudl sound alright, but output would ust be lacking in anything but essentially midbass.

Dunno man, plot it in winisd, its pretty accurate, ust not THAT steep of a roll, but its still really steep.

Ported though... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

We are talking music...1 15" sealed will compare in the way I stated to 2 12" ported. Not everyone likes a one note wonder box. Not everyone likes 145+db music...
The key to a great overall system is the POTENTIAL to get louder than you need. If you restrict yourself by a weak install to say, a 138... thats all you can ever get. It may be enough for some people to be doing a 133-134 cleanly... but the louder your potential DB is, the more headroom you have.

And of course, headroom is a wonderful thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif . I'd rather to a 130 and have the subs ust starting to think about moving than do to a 130 and have the subs really goin.

well what is the reason this sub supposedly "peaks so high" is it about the contruction or how does that work.... i mean what makes this sub peak so high, and the type RS, for example, not peak at certain levels/notes...

Two of the major factors are box and vehicle. Others are power and the actual design of the woofer itself.

In a sealed box, yea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The R's will do the same thing sealed, just not quite as bad as the RL-P.

Duno man, plot it up in winisd, its not too terrible with sealed box curves. Being in a car changes things, but normally for the better.

well im gonna port them hell if id go sealed... they are gonna be 2.2 cubes per sub at 32 HZ with right at 26sq inches of port area.... the type Rs performed good in a similar enclosure.... so i hope these will perform too... man i wish i could hear one for myself, taking chances like this makes me nervous
