Selling the type Rs for RLPs... will i be happy?

feel free man.... i like to meet new people... hear new systems.... i dont know anyone in the nebraksa area that has even heard of RLPs let alone has any... haha after i get them id be more then happy to share RLP awareness lol

well was it nice and loud too, i love sql and i hope i am happy with this upgrade....u might be interested in hearing my buddies 2 12 inch adire shivas... thats about the cleanest most accurate sounding things ive heard... well.... until i get the rlps that is...

SQ - Winner Rlp

Spl - Winner Type R

Brand New Prices for Pair - $480 (Rlp) vs. $240 ®--> Winner Type R

I've owned a rlp 15 before 3.4 cubes, tuned 32, 800 rms, i was not impressed all that much with the pounding, sq wise, extremely clean, very accurate, but output, there was some pumping but i didn't think it was all that...I've only heard a few R setups, and if done right, they pound like a mofo...there are a few kids who had some Rs and couldn't make it sound worth a crap cus they didn't know what they were doin but i was impressed by those who did...

maybe with 2, you'll get a better pounding but bang for the buck, i don't think theres a sub that will ever top the R...

me and you are different then... after i got the type Rs i still think that they are some of the most over hyped subs that have existed.... they werent anything special... there are lots of subs in that same price range that are just as good if not better than type Rs... i mean sure mine are nice and loud ported, 2.2 cubes, 31 hz, but i have a buddy with a couple PG TI12ds(pheonix gold titaniums) in that same price range that would whip my type Rs all day... that is one of the things that bothers me about this forum... to many type R boners when they arent THAT great... i might agree if there was a TCAB involved but with tuning as high as he does u can still say goodbye to lowend.... i want good SQL and would really like to hear from somone that has a couple that can tell me what i can expect.. if i got the same output with better Sq i would be happy

99% are tuned to 30-35hz.... hardly "high".

A 40-44hz peak does not indicate a 40-44hz tuning... depends on alot of factors, but your peaking 5-10hz above tuning with the R's.

i was under in impression that in most applications that TCABS were tuned in the 40s... that 150+ DBer had to be tuned high...

yep its that time for an upgrade.... selling the type Rs that have been GREAT subs for the last year.... selling them to some kid in town here and im gonna use that money to get my long awaited RLP 12's..... but will i notice a big difference between the two? i mean i love the type rs... liked how they sounded... but i wanted to know (in an optimal ported enclosure, are the rlps gonna be better in both terms of SQ and SPL? i just want to be impressed again... before i drop 500 bucks in subs i want to know if i can count on being happy... ive never actually listened to an rlp myself but i was kinda curious what everyone thot of them...
I've tested both, and made a thread about it... of course it was a sh!tstorm...

The type R was significantly louder, and handle significantly more power.

The RL-P's did have the SQ edge, and worked in a smaller box. It was also smoother in the 50hz+ range...although thats not something you should be shootng for with a sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If your shooting for straight SQ, RL-P isn't a bad pick. Otherwise, just screw around with the R's in different boxes.

as most are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I get em loud at a low note, thats what makes them what they are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I dont think I've ever shipped a box tuned in the 40's... never would unless it was specifically requested to be a fart machine.

Your typical 150+ setup IS tuned high and DOES sound like a pile of shyte... thats not a misconception //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

so tell me if i were to get these subs can your "magical" tcabs make them look like type Rs are little fairy girls in tights... when all said and done i plan to give these things 1000W ALL DAY... all i want is great Sq and output to outdo the type Rs... im looking for an upgrade here... and feel free to suggest other drivers in the 230-250 dollar range...
