Sealing around the sub

Ive nearly finnished building an enclosure for the first time, for my 12" Type R. I was just wondering, what do i need to seal around where the sub mounts onto the box? Do I need to do this? does it make a big difference if i dont seal it?

weather stripping works , butyle rope? spelling is messed up on that more than likely

shouldn't need anything between the sub and box as long as the surface is flat, and you get it good and tight.

Weather stripping is great. It can compress very well when the sub is mounted and can wrap around the cutout very well. I use the 3/4" or 3/8" stripping for everything.

I'll have to try weatherstripping.....If the sub doesn't have a gasket on it, it can be tough sometimes to get a good seal

They have it at homedepot or lowes?

remove said gasket, the weather stripping or butyle rope is better by far..

I use closed cell weatherstripping on every mount. Parts Express has speaker gasketing that is thinner. I use it also. Gotta seal around the sub or speaker.
