Sealed vs Ported

Well... Ive been using ported subs for quite a while now, but really it never makes me too happy for all around music. I either can get it good for the rap, and sucks for techno/rock, and vice versa...

I have a 12 " Type R, and this is definately loud enuff for me.

So nowwwww... to get the same loudness, what sealed setup would i need?

I was thinking 2 12's or even 2 15's sealed.

This is in the backseat of a Sport trac.

Any advice!?

^^^id still do an rl-s...monster of a sub for sealed applications.
but jl is good.
which is why its intended for home use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

to the original poster.. what is your box size and tuning?

I wouldn't do an RL-S in car at all... it requires huge amounts of power and space that two other drivers which cost less could do more with.
wow, it does require a huge amount of volume...4 cubes, at the very least, sealed!!

holy cow.

yeah, maybe like two 12 idmaxs or something..those are optimized for sealed apps.

Yeah!! Or maybe you could do more research and actually understand the driver you are recommending, or not recommend it!! There's an idea //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/idea.gif.5acb6a39a9b92425414c316dda202bad.gif

I have an MRD-M1005, Alpine -- Rated at 1000W RMS

Id like to use this amp, or even 2 of them.

The subs, id like to be in the 200's range -- but if I can get WAY more out of a 300 range sub, then so be it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I need it loud, and I need it sealed!

I could maybe fit 3 - 10's too
