sealed or ported box if u listen to rap?

"Way back when", I bought a R/T bandpass, and put 2 10" home pioneer subs in it for my room. Made it loud, but when it was installed in the car w/ 2 Kickers.... Now, thats a different story.

As many people have stated, you can't judge something you havn't heard. Now, I did make a bandpass for some bazooka subs... Didn't sound good either. But, it's all to the listeners ears. If YOU like it, then so be it. It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks...

u tune a box buy playing with its size and port. I make the box/port, bigger,smaller, or longer.

look in my gallery and that black sub box u see is a ported box.

sumbody said that sealed doesn't go as low i dont really buy that because if you go below tuning in a ported it bottoms out but if its in a sealed it'll go lower and lower until you can't hear it however; if you listen to rap i'd say ported for sure ported is louder but i dont think lower

sealed goes lower...one look at a frequency response graph will tell you that.

However, a ported enclosure will have a "bump" around the tuning frequency...by a few dB. This usually results in what appears to be a more exaggerated low end, because you can't hear anything below 20Hz anyway...true infrasonic takes a *lot* of power to reproduce at reference levels.

Wow! Please explain. I don't see how anybody can just throw a blanket statement on a type of enclosure like that.

Will a setup with a qtc of 1.0 hit the lows like a setup with a qtc of .577? If you know the correct answer, you'll see that your blanket statement isn't very fair.

Now, if you mean a high Q setup you "Might" be right, but .577 - .707 or maybe even a little higher, you're wrong more than likely.
