Rumors Confirmed:JL Audio

Originally posted by GSteg if you have over 1000 watts RMS, then sure. the W7's suspension is what sets it apart from other drivers.
you stole that from someone....cuz i remember someone else saying that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ...but thats what this forum is about.....passing on the information!!!!!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

PS (i have said that b4)

Originally posted by GSteg yup. i'm all about SQ. SQ is my top priority. W7's have SUPER DUPER EXTREMELY LOW power compression. til this day, i have never seen a subwoofer convert as much of the amp's watts into acoustic watts before. the shiva will handle up to 650 watts RMS thermally, but after 450 watts, you're not going to see any or hardly anything at all, because of it power compression. with the W7, you can dump more into it and it won't give you the slightest distortion. it just keeps on going and going until you reach its thermal/mechanical limits. the W7 is just an amazing sub. its not believable until you hear it in a correct install. i have own many subs, and i can say the W7 is the best SQ sub i have ever heard.
good explanation.....ignore my previous post :p

See this is the thing, we can go on forever about the JL's and their price, because the SQ guys, like yourself, like this sub because it is the best SQ sub out there. I am an SPL guy, so I don't think it's worth the money. It all comes down to personal preference...so I can't really argue with you on this one, because yes, the W7 is a great drvier, but not for me.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

not even close. lemme tell you a story. ive got 4 12 brahma ported to 32 hz each with 2.5 ft^3 after displacement. they are run with 2 visonik 900 at 2x 1500x 1 ohm stable. my friend has 6 jl w7s. now, hes been ragging on me for getting some 'noname' subs, so, after i finished the install i went over to his house and rattled his windows. he stumbles out, then just looks at the brahmas. i tell him to crank his **** up and lets compete. popped in a iasca cd, and played some tracks. just like the audio shop, i rocked his world. then he complains about not having the same setup as mine. so i take 2 brahmas out and put 2 of the w7s in. ive got switches that can turn off each amp when needed (driving by a cop, for instance). so we popped in the iasca cd again, and tested each.

can you guess who the winner was? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

and you people wonder why adire audio sweeped up so many trophies last year......

once again.....THE W7 IS AN SQ SUB THAT CANT BE COMPARED TO THE BRAHMA IN SPL! IT ALL DEPENDS ON PREFERENCE! also, if the w7s were put into the right enclosure, they would have the edge in SQ.........

coulda sworn brahma was an sq sub....and with the wattage runnin to them they dont distort at all.... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

seems like you're an SPL guy. something decent to an SQ guy is like the best to an SPL guy. u have 4 12's and probably the brahmas have blow the shiz out of your ears already. kinda hard to listen for distortion after that point eh?:p

should i tell my story about my single 10W7 wiping out 4 15" MTX Thunder 8000's at my local circuit city store? its all in the installation...

Well maybe this isnt relevent but....when i was at a shop last week we had a 13w7 runnin of of 2000 watts...you kno what...we could not get that thing to distort even at full tilt, it was hard but we eventualy got it to but it was at a 20hz test tone and it was ported tuned to 20 but it was hard....

So inconclusion, its an over priced but nice paper weight...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

dont seem to be a bad sql sub. id rather get 4 brahmas then for w7s, with the money i save i can get some chrome grills or somethin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

and i only play em loud when im outside the vehicle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

seriously though,i was gonna use the brahmas for sq comp, but then a jeep cherrokee is a very hard vehicle to sq in. but i found a mazda rx7 with a motor in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif perfect condition:eek: , just need some mad body work (it was in a wreck). little bit easier for me though, im choppin the front and back off anyways //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMO they are SQ subs that can get **** loud...well, thats the description on an SQL sub, so yeah lol. It's all personal taste. I can say a Brahma is an SQ sub, but someone else may think its a SPL sub.
