Rigging up my "sub"

Okay, i'm not going to lie, i'm a poor kid.. i don't have much money as of right now, but i do have some brains, which does help, so, my friend and i decided to hook up a house speaker (tweeter, mid range, and weak sub) into my car.. we spliced the cables from my polk 6x9's in the back seat to the house speaker, welp, it works good and sounds good (not great) but, when i turn the volume up on my head unit, i get a bunch of digital sputters and crackles outta my speakers, i think it may be caused by the head unit's amp.. but i dunno... i dunno wut u even consider the noise that happens when i raise up the volume... and the digital sputters vary from song to song, some songs i can turn louder than others, but i can't listen to rock at all, all it does is crackle and sputter.. the speakers are still fine, but i just wanna know how to correct the problem... do i need a small amp for the speaker box? is my head units amp (50x4) going to fry? I need help, because it's reallly annoying... but for rigging up something for free, it's actually pretty nice sounding.. I'll explain more later, if u want any details, but right now, i need to figure out wut's happening to my speakers/headunit's preamp.....

I'm a newbie, so be nice....

Thanx much,

Addison

since you most likely put the home speakers in parallel with your 6x9's, you are most likely running a lower system load than what your hu can handle. checkthe ohm rating of your speakers and make sure they don't exceed the min ohm rating of your hu. also take note the 50wx4 rating of your amp is not the rms output. you are probably getting around 25wx4 rms watts.

^^^ 25 RMS I would think more like 10 or so. I would agree that you have tried to make a system out of a bunch of extra stuff. The problem is you hooked it up with I would bet to be around a 2 Ohm or less load. your HU (head unit) cannot and will not push that. If it does it will burn up

I'd have to guess that the house speakers are 8ohm (as most home speakers are)....but that still only bumps you to a 2.67ohm load, not something that most HU amps can handle very well.

You definitely need an amp.
