Replace RE SE-X with shallow subs or not

Im currently running 2 of the recent model 12" Re Audio se-x subs with a rockford t1500.1 amp. My car is a 3 series bmw coupe and I really need the additional space since the box is pretty big for my trunk. Here were my thoughts, tell me what you guys think.

1 15" sub instead of 2 12's(i doubt it will work out though)

1 12" sub, something like a fi BL or something with similar power(also not too sure about it since it will be a lot of work and I doubt I will enjoy 1 12".

2 10/12" shallow subs, maybe like the upcoming si bm or jl 13tw5

My personal preference is going toward the 2 shallow subs. I love the bass with my current setup but I am willing to give up some of it for some trunk space. Also, I can keep the amp or get a different one if the subs require. That is no issue for me. what do you guys recommend??

one more thing, my subs in the trunk are facing down. This keeps most of the bass in my car but at times it feels unnatural. Like since all of the bass is within my car, it feels as if the bass overpowers the vocals. Also, I figured maybe this time, I will have the subs facing toward the seats instead of the trunk exit to lessen up some trunk rattle.

would the t1500.1 be enough power for it or would I need more power. Also, I know they can get LOUD but do they have decent sq. Im not an sq freak but I do like my subs to be fast and clear when they need to be..

This. And don't fire the subs forward, that's a terrible idea. Fire it either back or to the side. And just fix the rattle, 1x expanding foam where you can and some sound deadener.

I would love to have it firing toward the side, I just thought it might be a bad idea. I mean since all of the bass is coming from one side, It might sound weird. Would a setup like this workfor the btl. But I would have it on the left side instead since my battery is on the right..So If I place the sub there, what would be better for that small of a space, a 12" bl or btl
