Hi all, Im new to the car audio game. Over the past few months ive been upgrading my cars audio system. My ford taurus currently has infinity 6820cs comps in the front with infinity 6822cf's in the rear deck.

Just today i installed my infinity 5350a 5 channel amp. Next on my list is to add a sub.

Any recommendations from you guys on what I should get. I was thinking about the 10' alpine type s in a sealed box. The 5350a only puts out 300RMS on the sub channel.

Would the alpine be the way to go? Or is it junk?

I don't know much about the type S. But I know the type ARRRGHHH ® is revered around here. I've never heard a setup with either.

As for your amp... it does 50 watts x 4 @ 4-ohms while the sub channel is 150 watts x 1 @ 4-ohm

So you're actually looking for a 150RMS @ 4-ohm sub.

The 5350a puts out 60x4 and 300 watts at 2ohms.

So my plan was to buy a 4ohm DVC sub and wire it in parallel to get it to 2ohms and get those extre 150watts from my amp.

Any ideas guys? I want to keep it reasonably cheap.

Sorry, just read what it was rated at 4. Didn't know if it was stable at 2.

Mind you, though, the lower the resistance, the hotter the amp gets. So, you might want to see if your amp is getting hot.

You should be able to get a little bump outta of an arrghh bump definitely not near its full potential. If your amp is underrated, I say go with the type r...if it's over rated, I say go with something like a type S. Or check out a Sundown Audio SD-1 v.2 10 inch D4...I hear they are very efficient and will get fairly loud

What do you mean by over rated and under rated?

Im still leaning towards the type S.

Do you think a 10 inch type R would sound better, under powered. Than a 10 inch type S which is has a maximum RMS rating of 300 watts?

get a 10" or 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect DVQ dual 4 ohm

Would that run at 2ohms? I would rather not under power it at 4ohms with only 150 watts.

I'll give send him a message, though im sure i wont have enough money. Im trying to spend only spend $70 bucks tops on a sub. This is my first full flegded system, that Im also trying to keep on the cheap.
