I sure am glad this thread had spkrman or this thread would have been clueless.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

81000d in a daily application put out 800 watts... there you have it.
It also clipped worse than any other amp I have used, sent my strokers flyin past a certain point. I sold it a few days after I got it. Modded/strapped/high volt... maybe its worth a look. Until then, waste of a circuit board.

800watts real time power? If so, not too shabby. (Remember the rating is 1000.) My 9.0s are doing btwn 1600 and 1900 watts pending note played in the current box. Obivously that falls short of their rating of 2200 each, but when you have the reactive impeadance working against you, that's going to happen. hehe

BTW did you try the mtx with solid current down to 0.7dcr for burps? They become power hogs, but at the same time produce quite a bit more power. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Imo they are fine for daily at 1ohm if you have enough current for them and the box is on the small side for the subs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You know I just realized that I do have experience with the RE SE 12s...lol But not the current one, but rather the OOOOLD FIRST GEN se's! You know the ones with a **** on the cone! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

(I swear Im going nucking futs! LOL)

After I blew my 9915s back in the day right after 04 SBN the se's were the only subs I had to use. Me being lazy, I just used my 15 box with a couple of questionably engineered baffles! Each sub had about 2.4 cubes to play in tuned to about 40hz. For power I had 2 zapco 9.0s. Needless to say the box was WAAAAY too big for the power (4.4kW) But even still in goofing around with the subs I got them to a 147.1 in that box. Not impressive persay, but not bad either.

As far as how they sounded - hahahaha - they didnt sound so hot. Sliiiightly better than my 9915s (which are HORRID - worst sounding sub ive ever heard.) Granted for daily driving, the box was too big, tuned too high, etc. But even still, they didnt sound so hot.

They are currently being reconed to seXXX's as we speak, and as they say out of sight out of mind, that's probably why I forgot I had them. LOL

If you are going sealed, grab the SE's. If ported and want great soundquality, go type R or XXX. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

how come in every type r thread, they happened to have compared each sub that is being discussed? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Because perhaps they have? I've compared a lot of subs in my day too... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

so have i but they have so far compared every one sub so far.

Perhaps they have. Honestly your or I dont know, but I do know they compete and are VERY successful at doing so. You dont get there by not trying different equipment.... Also one thing I've noticed is that whatever works best in the dB lanes garners a huge following in the internet masses about 6months later. In the past 2 years amongst a team as large as their's I wouldnt doubt that they have compared them.

Secondly their metering and competition system is slightly different than that of dB drag. For instance ifyou threw a Type R in an extreme install, gave it 20kW, vs say a 99z, it would get it's butt handed to it...before it grenaded. Again in a street install like mine, I'd still put my money on a 9900 series DD over the type R. However in thier format of competition, the type R was found to be a lot better than other subs on the market.

Smells like

Because we have? I don't know any other way to say it besides that we have alot of experience with alot of subs in terms of using other peoples (teammates) subs for testing purposes, and just buying subs for R&D.

Very true, as said before, the type-r HATES high notes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I don't particularly see them as a good "wall" woofer in terms of a traditional high-tuned fart wall. Now mark's wall, on the other hand, is completely different. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you have a high note in your competition install, much like CRX's, explorer's etc., then the type-r will NOT work for you. Of the teammates that use the type-r for competition, i believe the highest note used on one is below 48 hz (custel's setup peaks the highest I believe). Either way, we have plenty of teammates who simply can't use the type-r because they burp at 55+ hz, where the type-r would crap out.

sorry i just find it hard to believe that everytime someone makes a comparison with the type r you have compared the 2 subs and the type r wins all the time. are you being paid by alpine?

hehehehe I think you missed my point.

when a brand becomes a popular recommendation on a forum, its likely been used in the spl lanes for a GOOD 6months if not longer in the spl lanes. IE most of your popular brands on the net have already been tested prior to them becomeing popular. Given the size of their team, the different brands their team has, and the length of time they've had to test I wouldnt doubt it.

They say there is a fine line between a hobby and a mental illness. For those of us who are hardcore competitors, it's definately a mental illness...im broke off my arse but still found money to buy a 20.1...lol We are the type that in college will live off of ramen noodles for a year to buy equipment for one purpose, spl, and then say it was more than worth it...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif The rest of the world just doesn't understand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I wish i was being paid by alpine, then i wouldn't have to pay for all the type-rs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Just to give you an idea, here's a list (of what i can remember) of subs that either me or mark have tested or owned

SE

seXXX

SX

H2

type-r

type-s

type-e

CVR

stroker

RL-P

DD 9512

MTX 4000

earthquake magma

L7's

MT

And these are just the ones i can remember...

I can add a ton of other subs to that list if i get in contact with one of my teammates and go through all the subs he has //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
