im not trying to start a fight..but i thought all the hype was over the 05 xxx and the 06's werent nearly as good? thats the impression i got by how everyone was talking? 05's were straight groundpounders. 06's, not as good, catch on fire. whats up with that?

It is possible to catch pretty much any sub on fire if you are a moron and are using almost twice rated power. On occasion I put 3KW to 1 SX12, It doesnt burn up, but if I wanted to I could cook it. It is all about knowing when to back off. I have never heard of any xxx catching on fire at rated power in a proper enclosure with proper amp setting.

finally, a logical explaination. thank you. that makes complete sense. as i said before i dont really keep up with the xxx's cause they were so far out of my price range. was there just one account of the 06 xxx catchin flame or was there more than that?

I'm not going to pass judgement on the XXX but this guy writes like he has never designed a system before in his life.

Some people prefer bass with music in the background, personally, I like music.

I prefer for the bass to be a part of the music. The pain problem I hear with people's "SQ" is lack of realness the lowest notes.
