most people on this forum would never pay retail, so why is retail always brought up when talking about RE. Retail on a 12L7 is 449.95 and retail on a SoloX12 is 1299.95, does anyone ***** about that or even bring it up? XXXs can be had for way less than 1000, just like SOLOXs and L7s can be had for way less then their retail. BTW what is the retail of a 13W7?

But you can find them at places like onlinecarstereo.com and others...more sellers = lower prices. The prices that folks can get the XXX at is not as well published. The L7s on the other hand, has a well published "internet price" if you will. If you say right here: I will sell them at $xxx, then people might bitch less. But you have to worry about MAP and other places don't. (well they do, but they don't give a **** and on some level, I think Kicker/Pioneer/etc doesn't really care as it helps move units)

Thats right, RE is trying to take care of thier dealers and they get called sellouts, but Kicker and the like sell to everyone and could care less about there dealer network, yet kicker is praised for this. I can tell you that dealer cost on a L7 12 is in between $199.00 and $201.00(so can you guess what it is). Can you find new L7s online for less than that, heck yeah you can. How am I gonna sell to my customers and make a profit. I am sick and tired of RE getting badmouthed for doing the right thing and supporting the industry. Check out the Spring Break Nats this year. Notice anything odd, thats right no DB Drag. It is becuse of internet sellout companies that are killing the industry and Comps. You take away the dealers that support comps and you will have no comps. The turnout for comps has been less and less over the last few years but overall internet sales are up. Notice a trend?

...Notice a trend?
Yep... those of us who want quality sound at awesome prices can now enjoy our music. Thank you internet sales. If dealers want to compete, they need to offer us something that internet sales can't. It may not be prices but it may be in something else. That isn't for me to decide but it's a free country with an open market. Also, not everybody cares about going to competitions.

They are sell outs how? They get unauthorized product on the cheap and sell it on the cheap and are making a profit. Where dealers are getting worse and worse and DIY ability is getting greater and greater. Maybe if every John Doe who wants to open a half assed audio shop didnt do so then this wouldnt have happened to the market.

The DIY market grew and the volume went up this made the price go down. If local shops want to survive they will have to find a new way to get at the market with out trying to undermind the DIY section.

I agree with this here. But here is something interesting to consider that I would hope top tier companies are already considering.

According to ga, if dealers make the comps; therefore if no dealers no comps. I see the logic in that. If there are no comps, then it reduces demand for higher end equipment (spl use...some sq will still be around because of its practicality). Then these companies will start to reduce R & D and product line. Then limiting what we as consumers can buy.

Question: How can dealers still turn profit? I think 6spd is close to the answer. Not necessarily him, but the fact the he sells on the internet on the side. I am not thinking he is making a killing off the forums but he does make some. I am curious how much of his (or ga's) business is from installs and accessories (fuses, etc). I would assume much of the business is from installs. I happen to work for a retailer that both offers installation services, but also focuses on the DIYer. I work for Lowe's part time. We turn a good profit either way. We make more if it is installed but we make money either way. As far as cost on customers, sometime it takes 20 minutes with a customer to explain they only really need a .20 coupling. There has to be a way...to do both

I belive there is a place for internet sales I am all about companies like FI and the like. AS far as sellouts I am taliking about companies like Stillwater that assure me the dealer that they dont allow online sells and they are doing all they can to stop it(yeah right). Look on ebay at any given time and you will find auctions for BNIB items under dealer cost, even new 07 models that were released last week. Stillwater is strictly dealer based, howecome they cant stop the illegal distribution of thier products. Companies like that I consider sellouts. A company cant really do both(internet sales and B@M) they must be one or the other. If you are gonna allow backdoor internet sales, why have dealers, it just makes us look bad.
