Had a few questions so I thought I would put them all in one spot.

1. I have a Stryke av12 home sub I don't really use, I think I tuned to it to 18htz and was wondering if that tune would be a problem in car? In home they run off a mackie1400i but I'm not sure what they will sound like in a car with less power.

2. Second, the last amp I bought was a Hifonics ZeausVII, so it's been awhile. I was looking at the Memphis Belle, JL and Zapco amps and read here that classd is supposed to be the way to go for a stock electrical system.

Anyone using one multi-channel amp on a stock system with about 130amp alt? How much is too much nowadays with the new classes? Recommend anything?

3. Is there a certain type of fleece that people use to fiberglass with, how thick is too thick?

First post, be kind.

Thanks.

18hz, while not exactly a problem in the car is lower than is usually needed. Unlike the home, the car actually boosts the response at the lower freqs and the box interacts a great deal with the airspace in the car with the effect of lowering the box tuning another couple of Hz. Super low tuning in the car is usually not needed.

The Memphis Belle amps, both the big one and the "baby Belle," are really nice amps. JL and Zapco make nice amps, too. There are several people on here that run them, some on the stock alt. The degree of electrical upgrades needed for any system hinge rather largely on the listening habits of the user. If you don't crank the volume like you're attempting to race for the deaf, you can have a lot of rated amp power on the stock electrical because you simply aren't using most of the power available. It really doesn't take much power to get more than loud enough for personal listening.

I've used fleece once, and never again. It was a total pain to work with. I prefer t-shirt material. There are others on here who swear by fleece. There are others that use Lycra, some that use grill cloth. All you're doing with it is making the form to lay the mat on. There is no reason IMO to go with some super thick material that is a pain to wet out and takes a ton of resin to fully saturate. In the end it really adds no strength and the thicker material with the larger amount of resin in it is more likely to warp and sag as it cures.

Thanks for the advice.

I may just use the sub the way it is. I was thinking of trying something like this, since the enclosure I have is so heavy. Then building kick pods for the tweeters, midbass and midrange.

The Memphis amp I was looking at must be the "baby belle" it's the smaller of the two I found.

I will try to use t-shirt for the pods, I guess that should work for just fine for something smaller, the fleece I have here is pretty thick. I haven't fiberglassed anything more than some unpainted patch work, it will be alot to tackle but I enjoy building and fabing things as much as the music.

Thanks.
