Crackling in left tweeter and random turn off

Hal,

I have some static or crackling in one of my tweeters. It is unlikely that the speaker is blown because I am only running 1/3 of it's rated power RMS at max volume. Can anyone recommend any steps to take to track this down?

Also, I have a random shut off of the head unit at times. I am running a Pioneer DEH-W3050NEX. It's wired as well as I can wire it with regularly sold adapters and harnesses. That's really all I have on that.

I also have interference from my ham radio, but that is for another bbs I suppose. They say ferrite chokes will help.

How hard would it be to swap tweeters left to right?

As easy as swapping the RCA inputs I reckon! I think it’s in the speaker or possibly the crossover as I kid you not I remember my old ones making the same noise!!!!!! 3hours of driving OK today. Maybe just break in.

Good call. I wanted to start from the end point but your way tells us if the radio output is the issue. If the static changes side then issue lies from the RCAs on up.

Start swapping left for right to isolate the problem.
