I read a few pages of the crap posted on here, but I'll respond to the original article. If you're expecting to get a thank-you out of the people you help, then you're volunteering for the entirely wrong reason. You do it for the satisfaction you get, the feeling that you've done your part and the world might be a little better place for your shift. Nothing else. If someone thanks you for it, well, count yourself lucky.

ok, i was disgusted at page 3.

heres the whole point of the discussion: the people there, said to be 70% black, with arrogant attitudes, are just that. if i was there, and they demanded me as a voulenteer to GIVE them food, i would totally ignore them, and help somone who was greatful, and said thank you. everyone else deserves to sit in the sludge - REGARDLESS OF RACE OR ETHNICITY!

they are the same kinds people who were killing and shooting voulnteers (including poliece), and now they are demanding help from those same people - REGARDLESS of race or ethnicity!

the race\ethnicity comments are out of hand, and this whole discussion about the n word is futile. their 'cracker' comments to this man were way out of line. he said he WOULD have called them the n word. instead he said they were arrogant b*tches, and he meerly THOUGH this, he did not go to these disgusting people and say it to their faces.

ur so ****ing dumb, no offense of course. the media didnt display any help until like the 4th day, maybe 3rd. IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO GATHER PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TO HELP!!! HOW ****ING REDICULOUS IS THAT???? NOT VERY!

We think we're the most powerful country in the world and it takes us that long to mobilize our military to aid our own people...IN OUR OWN COUNTRY? That's rediculous. I've really lost all hope because if there is another terrorist attack, or even worse, a military attack on our soil by the time we get there they will have moved further into our country. You can move a military a long way in 3 days.

Then they say that NOLA and other places didn't ask for help. Did Iraq ask for help? What about the Tsunami victims? I can recall a couple countries who are asking for our help and are not recieving it because our priority is not humanitarian aid.

I don't want to read the whole thing, I have something to say though.

1. It does not matter what race it is, if they are being rude and arrogant when someone is trying to help them, fuck off and feed, bath, house and give medical attention to your own **** self.

2. Did everyone in thier right mind forget that whites, jews, russians, greeks, italains, germans, wait is he trying to make a point here?!?!?, why yes he is, EVERYONE of almost every single race, color, creed and religion has had some type of slavery in thier past. You guys do realize that the national government cant just help ithout being asked. It is the states responcibility to take care of desasters until they ask for assistance. Then the Presidint declairs it a national desaster and they can then ond onty then help out. In this case the states (mississippi and Louisiana) are still in charge. The national guard is STATE goverened, then military that is there is only assisting in the logistics side. Thus, the 3 or 4 days is the amount of time it took for the states to ***** and request help. You simply cant put all blame on Bush. He has people that are suppost to be taking care of this. During his visit he felt that their actions were not good enough, there for he put more pressure on them to assist.

I feel that no one was prepaired for this. The levys there were set up for a cat 3 hurricane, you cant put blame on the war in Iraq. No one thought the levys would break. Honestly though, New Orlines is filled with poor peopl living on welfare and or check to check, in a flood plane at that, better yet, below sea level.

Things are getting taken care of, now we, the nation as a whole, needs to quit bickering and come up with a way to help all the homeless find jobs and homes, atleast until the towns can be rebuilt. Even then the same thing can happen all over again. Md and concrete are no match for mother nature, it is inevitable that people will die in natural disasters. Most if not all of the best places to live have mother natre to worry about. Hawaii & volcanos, Cali & earthquakes, east cost & hurricanes. It in our nature to want to live in the prettyist places, but all of them come with a price.

Again, we really need to take this whole thing away from a political battle or bashing and get down to business with help. Out money, time, extra goods, and love/prayers are the things that are needed here, not a bunch of 16-30 year olds bickering over who was right or wrong.

This is and will be my only post in here because I know that this place is filled with imature kids who have absolutly NO reasoning behind thier thoughts, just folks that jump on a political bandwagon and run thier mouths about things but when it comes down to business they run...I DARE you to help, I am calling you out. Get involved. Dont be a puss, get involved.
