Questions about which amp to buy?

Hello, im fairly new here and inexperienced with sub's, however i currently have 2 Alpine Type R 10" 300 RMS 1k Max, DVC 4 ohm connected to a Boss Rev 550x2. ive noticed that when one sub is unplugged its actually louder then when both are hooked so ive concluded theres not enough watts from my amp.phasing is correct. So right now im torn between buying a hifonics mono 1k watt amp and running the subs parallel/parallel on a 1 ohm load. or buying a planet audio AC1200.2 and running the 640x2 channel at 2 ohm. the planet audio can also run bridged 840x1 at 4 ohm. anyone have any suggestions??

Try Audiopipe, good product very good pricing. I have the apsm1300, and I couldn't be happier. After looking at all of the stuff I could find on the web, I found out that it is internally just like the Treo rsx1900 and they have the same bass remote. Well, it actually has a little bit more guts than the Treo. The only odd thing is, as stated in an older thread on this site, the adjustments are on the bottom. It's rated at 300wrms ohms,600wrms 2ohms, and 1000wrms 1ohm. It will usually do about 10-20% more than rated, and you can find it on-line for about $115 usually including shipping, it even comes with an 80amp mini ANL fuse and holder.

so your still suggesting a mono block and 1 ohm load? what about distortion? wouldnt running an amp at 2 ohms to my 4 ohm subs offer less distortion?

Also, make sure to set gains properly so that you do not sending a clipped signal from the amp. There are tuturials on how to do it with a DMM or better yet an Oscope, or have it done for you, so that your equipment will last.

Finally, X2 on the Audiopipe, you wont be disappointed especially for the price.

and aq 750.1 would set you up quite nicely with that, put them at 1 ohm and be easy with the gain.

and unless your competing for sq then sub distortion is insignificant

and the ap amps are ok, but from my experience the mono blocks are current hogs and the a/b's get hot easily and dont like high preout voltages.

aq750.1? the AP1300.1 is 100 bucks shipped on amazon. thats a pretty legit price and what im looking to spend. Even if it only produces 800 rms its better then what i have now even tho i was looking to put atleast 500 to each sub.

ok so its definitely between the AP1300.1 and the AP15001D... i would run both at 1 ohm. so my subs are 300 RMS and 1k max... do you think 750 to each sub would be to high from the 1500D?

I think im going with the 1500D incase i decide to upgrade in the future... now my only concern is if my wiring kit can handle the power.... this is my kit Raptor PKBL3 1500 Watt Installation 4 Gauge Blue / Silver /RCAs Amplifier Kit

them saying 1k max is a marketing tool. they may take that for a 3 second burp, but if you try to play music on them at that power they will smoke.

the max ratings are bs, rms is the number that really counts.

just get the 1300 and call it a day. just learn to set the gain with a dmm and set it to put out right at 600 watts.
