questions about orion 2500d amp?

What would the electrical requirements be? i know it has a funky wiring system with 2 powers and 2 grounds or something like that... would this work ok on 3 DVC 4ohm type-r 12's? what impedance would that give me if all 3 was wired to 2ohms each? i am trying to get around 1000 to each sub and one of the 2500d amps in the classifieds is what i am looking at to push them.

Is $400shipped a good price for a few month old used one that has been run at .5ohms?

That would give you a final load of .67. People say they run it at .5, so yeah that will be fine. I guess youll be somewhat close to your goal. As far as electrical......How big is your alt? Your battery good? Upgrade wires?

The price, depends on how much you want it, seems like they dont come around too often like they used to.

3 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel

Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel will result in the following impedances:

Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm

Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.67 Ohm

Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.33 Ohm

Dual-1.5 Ohm Subwoofer: 0.25 Ohm

i am going to be using 0 gage wire for the power and ground and then distro blocks to dual 4 gage then to the amp... i have a stock alternator and stock battery up front but am going to add a battery in back... will that work?

im running 2 x rl-p on a 2500d, lights only dim when i get real loud, most daily driving and bumping is problem free, stock elecrical in a toyota previa. id say if your gonnapush everything all the time full tilt you willneed a ho alt and a second battery, but if your like me, and just bump a lil with occasional booming you'll be fine.

i have to dissagree on you with that 1. My first orion 2500D ran off of my 85stock alt and small @ss stock batt in a neon and did fine, the extra batt will help also.

it is going in a 2000 model V8 chevy silverado extended cab. i am either going to be doing 3 or 4 of the 4ohm 12in type-r's... i have the rear seat removed.

orion is one of the most effiecient amps available. it does rated power @ 12.8 volts, not 14.4 like most.

but it does draw some heavy current, i dont see how a 220a alt, yellow top and 2 kinetiks cant handle one

i dunno......everything checked out fine......i can drop other amps in its place and i have no problem......guess i am jus one unlucky summama*****......and YES i hooked up both power and grounds

oh well i guess tahst what warrnties are for....however i am leaning towards getting away from the orions because of the trouble ive had......never ahd an amp gimme so much grief

i hope this one is ready for 3 or 4 Type-R 12's in an extended cab, that is what i am going for, and i got 16cuft to work with for a box! hehe, should be pretty darn loud.
