questions about 2 way setup.

Basically im looking for hertz 165 xl setup but i have an opportunity to buy just the woofers . Whats confusing me is that im bieng told the 6.5s is only mid bass.

Now im new to all this technical talk. Does mid bass mean all im getting from these 6.5s is bass? I thought a component set with 2 6.5s and 2 tweeters would cover everything i need in terms of sound besides the sub.

Don't the 6.5s out of components cover more then bass? Ive had 2 way components before and the woofer and tweeters were all i needed. If i get tweeters and a sub will this be a 2 way system. I know i need amp and xovers but speaker wise will the only the 6.5s from the hertz 165 xl and my choice of tweeters and my choice of crossing over and amp be good enough

You are going to get mid bass from them...that is why the xovers generally are set at 80hz...under 80 is cut out as the mid bass drivers can't really handle it while the "sub" woofer can and does nicely.

What you will get from a mid bass driver is a very nice, crisp mid bass that is so very important.

You can really tell the difference when listening to speakers that have a good crisp mid bass compared to those that aren't as good.

A tweeter, woofer and sub woofer are designed to reproduce sounds in their range, trying to get a woofer to reproduce sub tones of vice versa doesn't reproduce the sounds as the frequencies demand.
