If the Old Testament isn't important in Christianity, why is studied? Wasted paper?

I didn't say it wasn't important to Christianity, one prophisizes the coming of the savior; the other writes of his works while he walked this world. Jew's do not think he has walked this earth yet; Christian's do.

I'm an atheist and what really pisses me off is people who claim to have an "x" religion aren't serious with their belives I have seen a lot of people who claim to be "catholic" and don't shut off their cell phones while they are in church. Me even an atheist because I respect other persons believs turn my cell phone off in church when I go, because I was invited, etc.
An here is a though question for people who belive in god:

If the virgin Mary was a VIRGIN how was Jesus concieved?

because God touched her, and he's all powerful...duh

Actually God spoke to her and told her she would be with child, it was actually the holy spirit who blessed her with Jesus.

As someone raised in the midst of the Bible Belt, in a split Catholic/Southern Baptist home, and after pursuing many years of higher education; I have the following thoughts:
1) Religion is complete and total crap; created by man to gain power and wealth. Religion differs from faith in regards to a person may have and hold faith without religion. I do not have any problems with faith. This applies to all beliefs in an higher power.

2) Evolution really did happen. I'm not sold complete on the ape theory. Have religious people explain dinosaurs.

3)All Chrisitan sects believe they're the only ones going to heaven. Southern Baptists just feel they should be first.

that's pretty much the only problem with religion. Who's to say who's right about what?

This goes along with what Flip a la carte is; Souther Baptist is still Christianity just a different interpretation of the New Testament.

My morals are based on my beliefs/upbringing, I do not need to answer to anyone.

Just because I don't believe in a higher power does not give me the permission to do whatever the hell I want, I still listen to the law and my own morals.
