Q's for atheists and maybe hardcore agnostics

hows about this. there's stil millions of stars in the universe we haven't found yet.... do they not exist cause astronomers haven't seen them yet?? just like that story on yahoo about the earth making high pitch sounds. i guess those did't exist till scientist heard them a coupla days ago?? i'm sorry. i don't wanna argue:(
It seems the Universe is only as big as the human consciousness. The more we understand, the bigger it seems to get. The bigger the telescope, the bigger the Universe, the more the stars.

Same thing can be said for the sub-atomic Universe. The more powerful the microscope to see in, the more interesting it gets. What are there, 10 "windows" in modern String Theory?? Or 10 dimensions.

God is dead. Better yet, He was never born in the first place. Stop giving him human attributes, it just causes pain and restriction.

Of course it does. You simply cannot talk about in any other way in which you've come to know it or have experienced it. You create your own reality. Psychology and physics have proven this hundreds of times.
That was my point. There is no single reality. So you cant say if one creature does not observe something that it does not exist.

Come on guys that is the ultimate narcacism. Tookie is dead and there are still measurable events in the universe. The same will be true when your gone. You and Tookie however will not be here to see it.

1. And using artificial ears as an argument is retarded.

2. I'm stating a fact based on the definition of the word sound, which you clearly understand.

3. How you continue to contradict yourself is beyond me.

4. If our ear durms cannot interpret a 50,000Hz sound wave then guess what, even though it still exists, IT ISN'T SOUND. It is just a high frequency sound wave.
1. I'm not arguing whatsoever.... and how is that retarded? We as humans have the capability to develop and refine the necessary observation tools to detect things that are out of our raw physical limitations.

2. Yes I do fully understand it, but apparently you're not getting what I'm trying to state. Sound is classically defined as a frequency that is human audible/detectable when only associated to humans. But sound is sound, regardless if the frequency is higher or lower than what a human is able to observe with the eardrum alone, since we have technologically evolved to the point to where we can now utilize tools to interpret sound frequencies outside the realm of normal human hearing and put them in a human observable format. An inaudible sound is just as much a sound as an audible one, especially since each human has a different audible detection range.... if your eardrums are able to observe a 19,000 Hz frequency, but my upper limit is 18,200 Hz, does that sound exist or not? How should it be classified?

3. I hope I was able to explain enough above to refute your belief that I'm contradicting myself, as I'm just trying to get you to understand what I mean by thinking what we, as humans, are now able to observe in this day and age with the help of human created tools.

4. If the "artificial ears" isn't good enough for you, then how about an electron microscope? We can't see microscopic matter with our ***** eyes, yet we can when they're magnified by 200,000 times or more. So, since we can't see such small things without observatory tools to put them into an observable format, does that mean it's not physical matter?

Got daymn man. I did not say it didn't exist. I said it did fucking exist. It just isn't a sound from a human perspective. Sure it can be for a dog. But I'm not a dog. I can't tell you if a dog can hear it. All I can tell you is that a dog reacts from it.
Is that not a method of observation?

This is quite a semantical and philosophical argument, but sound exists whether you can hear it or not. Finding sound with a microphone is still valid: all you have done is take a signal of one type (auditory) and converted it to another type (electrical) through a transducer (the microphone). These electrical signals can then be converted to something we can observe (a visual signal).

The act of making sound and the act of hearing sound are two completely different things, in my opinion. The making is simply the formation of a sound wave by vibration through a medium (gas, liquid, or solid). The hearing is where human perception becomes important if (and only if) we wish to interpret or observe that sound from a singular subject.

Very well put. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sound is produced wether it is being processesed by an ear or brain or not.. Sometimes we as humans feel the need to think way too deep into things...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

4.) if u are an atheist with morals, why? who or what does it benefit?
Why do religous people have morals if they can ask for forgiveness for anything. Atleast I think god is supposed to forgive you for anything if you ask nicely.
