Proper 2nd battery install

What if the battery's aren't the same?like a stock chevy silverado batt, and an optima yellow top?
is the stock battery a wet-cell? or sealed?

i think the general rule here is you don't want to mix lead-acid (wet-cell) with sealed gel-type batteries.

i was just going to run a 4g (or if i need to a 0 ga) from the stock chevy battery to the optima yellow under my backseat. then id run another 4 or 0 ga, to a fuse holder, then to a distribution block. and of course id ground the second (optima) battery to something close by. i don't really listen to music without the truck on, so its not a huge issue of draining either battery. but wouldn't the optima (being larger and stronger) try to charge the stock battery? im guessing that is why its suggested to snag a battery isolator when installing the second battery.

thanks

kyle

When you run the neg to the distro using the rear bat, do you need to fuse that as well? Also If I dont install an isolator(their expensive) that just means both will be used at the same time right? I have a yellowtop and a powermaster D975, will they be fine together?
