Problem with new AQ 1200

With non of us being there to see what is going wrong it is hard telling what has/is happening.

This may seem obvious but have you messed with the crossover settings? I would try turning the subsonic down and raising the lowpass.

LPF is set right and so is SSF. But the only way I can get my sub to move is to turn the gain and bass boost all the way up and even then my JBL amp puts it to shame with only 674wrms.

Im about to just say F-it and take a loss and try to sell it as is,and if nothing really is wrong with it oh well. Im getting kinda tired of thinking about it. Im very very unhappy with this amp if there really isnt anything wrong with it.

Also you are compairing a JBL Crown built amp to a korean made AQ amp. That JBL is a **** fine amp and does alot more then you probably are giving it credit for.

I know who you got that amp from and I am not taking sides but I have delt with him several times and always had a flawless transactions with that person.

Not bashing AQ I think they are pretty good for the money but that JBL has more behind it.

Maybe that amp just isnt working out for you because like alot of people are lead to believe or want to believe that non main stream amps seem to have some magical power behind them that main stream amps do not.

Personally I would have stayed with the JBL but to each is there own.

All though I agree the crown is a much cleaner signal then the AQ, I do not think that needing to max out the gains to get output is signs of an amp that is actually functioning properly.

I am in no way blaming this on the guy I bought it off of. I trust him completly. He has tons of great feedback and his communication with me has been awesome!

I always knew that the JBL Crown amps were awesome but I just figured it is CEA rated for 718wrms @ 4ohm,how I had it wired,and the AQ is rated for at least 1200wrms @ 1ohm. Now with a difference of 500wrms + I figured I would hear a well noticable difference in the 2 amps.

I have decided there are 2 conclusions to this

1) The AQ amp is fine and it is just far far far from what i expected and no where near the quality or greatness of my JBL

or

2) The AQ IS actually broke and thats why it sounds nothing like I imagined.

I guess the only way to really tell is to send it to AQ and have them check it out and tell me whats wrong with it,if anything. I am really starting to beleive that the AQ is fine and its just not what I expected. If thats the case I will never buy anything from AQ again.

BTW thanks to everyone that has posted in this thread and helped me out. Thank you all for your time.

I don't see anything wrong but it is hard to tell from that dark of a picture. Take it to your local electronics repair shop and see what they think.

Have you tried to install this amp in another vehicle? I remember I've had a line driver go out for no reason and the RCAs were sending my amps into protect because it was carrying DC voltage through my RCA cables. Car audio problems can be very strange and hard to pinpoint sometimes.

I am working things out with the seller. We're gonna find out the problem,if any. Its going to AQ for a professional opinion.
